Our History

  In July of 1956

  In July of 1956, Canyon View Credit Union was founded by a small group of professors at the University of Utah. Although the credit union was originally established to serve employees of the university, our community presence grew beyond the boundaries of campus. Soon after our founding date, our field of membership was expanded to include U alumni as well as U students. Since then, Canyon View Credit Union Credit Union has been steadily expanding field of membership in order to serve even more members of the Utah community.

  In 2004

  In 2004, Canyon View Credit Union expanded to serve anyone who lives, works, goes to school, worships, or volunteers in Salt Lake County, along with the immediate family members of those who qualify. In 2020, our field of membership grew again to include Davis, Utah, Wasatch, Summit, and Tooele Counties (in addition to Salt Lake County).

  Today

  Today, Canyon View Credit Union serves more than 100,000 members. Although we grow each year, we still honor our roots as a small, community-based credit union. To capture our gratitude to the community that shaped our growth, Dr. Roland Stucki, an original founding member of Canyon View Credit Union, once said, "no single person can take credit for organizing and developing the success of Canyon View Credit Union. It was a team effort where different individuals made substantial but different contributions to its success." Along with eleven others, Dr. Stucki signed our original charter and his sentiments are still reflected today in our mission to serve our employees, our members, and to continually improve the communities in which we all live.
